Jakarta, kangmust.com -- Huawei berencana membangun pabrik chip untuk menghadapi konsekuensi terburuk dari pengetatan pembatasan perdagangan yang dikeluarkan pemerintah Amerika Serikat (AS) di bawah rezim Donald Trump. Pabrik chip sedianya akan dibangun di Shanghai, China.
Pabrik chip itu direncanakan akan membuat suku cadang untuk infrastruktur telekomunikasi inti Huawei.
Melansir Engadget, pabrik chip Huawei akan mulai dengan membuat chip berdasarkan proses 45 nanometer. Setelah berjalan lancar, pabrik akan beralih ke chip 28nm pada akhir 2021.
Pabrik itu diklaim juga akan membuat chip untuk perangkat TV pintar dan Internet of Things. Huawei berencana membuat chip mencapai 20 nm untuk peralatan telekomunikasi 5G.
Huawei dan Shanghai IC R&D Center menolak berkomentar. Mereka beralasan rencana itu merupakan sesuatu yang sensitif.
Melansir Bloomberg, pabrik chip di Shanghai itu diklaim tanpa menggunakan teknologi AS. Karena tidak memiliki pengalaman dalam membuat chip, Huawei mempercayakan operasional pabrik itu kepada Shanghai IC R&D Center.
Shanghai IC R&D Center merupakan perusahaan pengembangan chip yang didukung oleh pemerintah Kota Shanghai, China.
Jika laporan itu akurat, Huawei mungkin tidak perlu khawatir lagi tentang masa depannya. Selain itu, Huawei berpotensi bekerja sama dengan Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) untuk membuat chip yang lebih kecil untuk produk selulernya.
